Nature...Realistic Art

Yosemite National Park

This picture explains it all! I have been to Yosemite myself! And MY GOSH! When you look at the scenery, it looks like a HUGE painting! Yosemite is a national park in California. There are a variety of activities to do here. You can go camping, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, biking, swimming, and more to list! I suggest everybody to visit Yosemite because you'll see the real beauty of nature and most importantly, Mother Nature's/God's artwork!

Danger in Syria

http://lightbox.time.com/2013/04/15/the-2013-pulitzer-prize-winners-associated-press-coverage-of-syria/#1
 Subject/Topic of Essay:
The war between the Syrian Army and Syrian Rebels.

My Response/ Impact of the Essay:
The pictures of this essay made me cringe. I hate the fact that people who aren't involved with the army nor the rebels get caught up in it. This essay angers me in a way where I would want to try to help the people of Syria.

Effectiveness of the Photos & Their Story:
The photos show how brutally hurt the citizens are from this war.  It shows the struggle of the Syrians.

Photo's Copy:
The photo's copy wasn't that long. Important details, things that weren't captured in the photo, make a copy effective.

Prom 2013

People that I met at Early College's Prom. (Left to Right) Alishiba, Sharon, Sara, Josh, Tanna, Me!, and Katie.
Experiencing prom as a sophomore and attending prom this year for the first time was both nerve racking and exciting!

My Best Friend Katie was the one who asked me to go to prom with her at her school. I was really excited and exhausted when we went prom dress shopping. When we walked into one of the stores there were a variety of dresses with different colors, shapes and sizes. I probably tried on a dozen dresses and I was really indecisive. Katie has found her dress but I was still looking around. Finally my mom handed me this bluish purplish dress that I really liked and fell in love with when I tried it on.

Me, Katie and Tanna
On the day of prom, I took my time on getting ready. I wanted everything to be perfect. Well...unfortunately my hair just wasn't working for me that day, so it didn't look like how I wanted it be. But my makeup was good so I was pretty satisfied. When Katie got to my house, I had to do her makeup also. We ate before we left because we knew we were going to be hungry.

When we got to the school I met her friend Tanna and we waited for her other friends to come. It was a bit nerve racking because I didn't know anybody there except for Katie. Luckily, the people and Katie's friends were very kind and easy to talk to! We danced, laughed, and took pictures!  I had a wonderful time with everybody there!

Katie and I were really exhausted after....she didn't feel like driving home so she ended up sleeping over! Like any other ordinary sleep over we stayed up, ate till we couldn't, and watched a movie! I had a great night and I hope you guys had/will have a SPECTACULAR PROM!

Springtime War

Spring Break was a coma
memories that only I'll know of.
There I was running away
from explosions that filled the air!

Drawn by Brianna Harris
Barbarians attacked our country!
While playing ball with my family.
Troops marched onto people's lawns
forcing families apart, some even running.

Those of us who ran away
eventually met in a safe place.
All had anger, our only weapon,
to win back our beloved country.

Rebellion rose from the shadows,
quietly planning in the darkness.
Stolen weapons were used against them
killing them off one by one.

We took our country back!
Won and ended the war!
Suddenly something shook me up
now knowing it was a dream.

By Nina Gonzales

I hope you guys like this little poem I came up with about my spring break! I was really inspired about the threats coming from North Korea and Terrorist Attacks that have happened here in the United States. We are strong and will defeat every obstacle.

I hope you all had a great spring break and are ready for summer break to come :)

Mama Duck and her Ducklings

There was so many people to chose from, but for my first interview/blog post, I choose my mom. (I wouldn't be sitting here typing this post up without her.) I was really interested in finding out what she set out to accomplish in life. When I asked her what her goal was in life, she didn't even have to think about it. She knew what she had set out to accomplish right away!

She said," As a mother, I want my children to grow up as good people, in a good environment, have a good education, and have a great life." My mom started a family during her last year of college. She met and married my dad and had me! ^.^ The scariest part of her quest was, "Moving into another country. We had to move because I didn't want to be far away from your dad," she explained, " but the best part was being together again!" Moving into another country came with obstacles too! "We encountered financial problems, not knowing many people, and not being familiar with the place but I was still able to provide my kids with a good education and a good environment to live in." We also had to make another big move from California to North Carolina! "The people were different and so was the environment, I felt like we moved into another country!"

My mom is a wonderful person and I love her! "Even though I'm having a bad morning I still strive to wake up every morning, prepare my children's lunch bags, make sure they have everything they need for the day, and make sure they leave the house with a smile on their face!" "Yea, some of my classmates' moms don't even pack their lunch," said my 10 year-old brother, "So true! Momma always puts a smile on my face in the mornings!" added my sister. My mom hasn't accomplished her goal yet, "it isn't finished until all of you finish college and are living well on your own. But so far I am able to keep my family intact, well fed, have a good education, and happy!" I am very thankful for having a great mom!
